Winter 2002-2003 Regular Season
Exhibition October 6, '02
First game a draw: Labatt Blue tied the New Enforcers
in its first game, a preseason exhibition match at Vallco October 6.
The two teams were never separated by more than one goal, with
the Labatt squad leading for most of the second half of the game
until surrendering the tying goal late in third period.

Highlights:
- Gary Pagdilao thrilled his teammates and the crowd with Labatt's
first hat trick (Paul Gibson scored the team's only other goal)
- Brad Amodeo debuted in goal for Labatt, displaying veteran skills
in backstopping this promising rookie team
- Defensive zone coverage was excellent, limiting shots and mobility
for the opposition throughout the contest
Besides welcoming Brad to the team in what is hoped will be a
permanent role as netminder, Labatt also gained a new skater in
Jan Stevenson. This brings the roster to twelve skaters and
one goalie; watch for a final roster to be posted by the time
the season starts on October 13.
Be proud! Chris Kamalani, who served as bench coach
for the team's first game, was congratulatory rather than consoling
afterwards. "Usually I'm telling brand new teams at this point
that they'll get better, just give it time. You guys did great!"
Of course, Labatt will only get stronger as the season progresses.
Scoring Summary (Labatt Blue only):
- 1st period, 4:23 -- Pagdilao (Alikhan)
- 2nd period, 0:21 -- Pagdilao (Alikhan)
- 2nd period, 6:56 -- Gibson (Stephenson, Mirer)
- 3rd period, 5:27 -- Pagdilao (Alikhan, Woo-Bloxberg)
In other E-league action, Strychnine outplayed Red Storm 11-8
on Sunday immediately prior to Labatt's contest against the New Enforcers.
Goalie Caralee Clarke took home the win against Debbie Nishahara, both alumni
of Labatt's beginner class. Congratulations to both goalies on their
PHA debuts, along with alumni Gladys Mercier, Voon Wong, Tony Chen, and goaltender
Pearl Seto who helped the New Enforcers eke out a tie against Labatt.
