Blue shut out top seed: In their first ever playoff appearance, Labatt Blue came out gunning with a three-goal first period, led by the line of Joel Maki, Rob Cassetti, and Craig Denton. Captain Matt Alfano also found the net with Jan Stevenson assisting on the play. Then, Labatt battened down the defensive hatches and helped goalie Rick Seis earn a playoff shutout victory.

Defense stands out: Strong play on the blue line was largely responsible for shutting down the Red Storm offense and supporting Labatt's scorers up-ice. By limiting odd-man breaks and doing an excellent job of moving the puck up to the forwards, the Blue's 5-man defensive corps kept their team in control of the game from start to finish.

Sharp goaltending, great hustle: Goalie Rick Seis continued to show great form, extending his (and the team's) unbeaten streak to four games. Over a five-game stretch, Rick has given up only 6 goals, a stingy 1.20 goals-against-average. The netminder has been helped by great team hustle to pick up loose pucks in all zones, eliminating second chances and helping Labatt dominate play.

Finals vs. Enforcers Sunday, March 23: The Enforcers reportedly defeated the noxious Strychnine in their first-round playoff matchup. A preview of the playoff final between Labatt and the Enforcers will take place at the Shark Tank following the Sharks vs. the Chicago Blackhawks on March 17. The Sharks game starts at 7:30, and Labatt takes the ice shortly after 10:00.
