Labatt feasts on New Enforcers: It was a breakout evening for the Blue as they defeated the New Enforcers 9-0 at Vallco on January 19. Both teams had shortened benches, but Labatt played with energy and drive for the entire game and was rewarded with its second win of the season.

First donut of the season: Goalie Rick Seis brought home the first Labatt shutout, stopping 22 shots en route. Though the Labatt defensive effort was strong, allowing few breakaways and clearing players and rebounds from the crease, Rick gets full credit for delivering several sterling saves and slamming the door on the New Enforcers.

Penalty shot rejected: The cherry on Rick's shutout sundae came when the New Enforcers were awarded a penalty shot. The Labatt net came loose following a goalmouth scramble, and after a lengthy conference between the two referees it was decided that Rick would go mano e mano against an Enforcers skater. Coming down ice, the attacker saw nothin' but goalie, and the puck was easily deflected to preserve the shutout.

Major points: Six players had multi-point games for the Blue, and nearly everybody found their way onto the scoresheet. Joel Maki flashed his passing skills and led the way with 5 helpers; Matt Alfano, Rob Cassetti, and Scott Mirer each contributed two goals and an assist.

And the beat goes on... Now standing at eight games, Rob Cassetti's points streak is mathematically assured of being unbroken this season. Craig Denton could still tie him, after stretching his goal-scoring streak to three with five games remaining in the schedule. Matt Alfano is also in the race, with a three game points streak of his own. Rumour has it that Rob will cross-check anyone that passes to either Matt or Craig in the offensive zone, at least until their streaks are broken.
