Season-ending victory for Labatt: Going into the final game of the season, the Labatt Blue squad had a 0-4-1 record against Red Storm, the top team in the PHA E-League standings. The total goal differential in these games was +13 in Red Storm's favor, but the tide seemed to be turning when Labatt held them to just one goal in a 1-0 squeaker on February 9. In the season finale, Labatt finally broke through for a 5-3 victory over the Storm.

Cassetti and Maki end season strong: Top Labatt scorers Rob Cassetti and Joel Maki had three points each in the contest, leaving them tied for the regular season points title. Rob led all Labatt scorers with XXX goals on the season, while Joel outdid his teammates (and probably the rest of the league) with YYY penalty minutes. Pundits expect both players to remain hot going into the postseason.

Stage set for playoffs: Fourteen days following this game, these same two teams will square off as top and bottom seeds in the E-League playoffs. Labatt enters coming off a 3-game unbeaten streak and has defeated every other team in the league at least once, so their fate seems to be completely in their hands. The playoff game is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, March 16, the night before Labatt and the New Enforcers duke it out at the Tank.

Tank Game Monday, March 17: Labatt and the New Enforcers will square off following the Sharks vs. the Chicago Blackhawks at the San Jose Arena. Gametime for the Sharks is 7:00, and Labatt will take the ice between 9:30 and 10:00. If you haven't already, contact your favorite Labatt player regarding tickets (anyone attending the Sharks game is able to also attend the PHA contest afterward).
