Winter 2002-2003 Regular Season
Labatt improves but loses: The November 3 match against Red Storm saw significant improvements in Labatt's play, but Red Storm prevailed 5-3. Playing with its full roster for the first time this season, Labatt rolled 3 forward lines and 2 defensive pairings smoothly throughout the game. Improved flow and consistent effort throughout helped Labatt put three pucks past substitute goalie Mike B. Joel and Rob both had 2-point nights and Matt T contributed an assist from the blueline. Rob moves ahead: Rob Cassetti advanced beyond star D-man "Lud" to take the lead in team scoring. Exhibiting strong overall play and a nose for the net, Rob now has a point in 3 of Labatt's 4 regular season games, including two multi-point efforts. Mike shows some moves: Big Michael Lii had a breakout game, with strong play on the boards and at the net. Although he didn't get on the scoresheet, hockey analysts across the league expect big things from Mike in the near future. Dave gets first PIM: Clearly looking to pump up his penalty minutes in preparation for future contract negotiations, Dave Woo-Bloxberg insisted on getting his 2 minutes of infamy after interfering with an opponent. Rather than wait for the referee to figure out what was up, Dave showed initiative and headed straight for the sin bin. Way to go, Dave!
