Herešs a few things to put into your hockey library.

Offsides-
Offsides can put a real damper on all of the effort you put into the game.
You may just have skated through the entire opposing team and feel like the
wind is at your back, just to be stopped dead because someone else on your
line is not paying attention.
So, be aware that you may not skate across the blueline without the puck
crossing first. EVER! As we learn our positions on the ice, offsides will be
a rule/concept/punshment that we must never forget.

Faceoffs-
When youšre the center for your line, you must make sure everyone on your
line is in position before you get set for the faceoff. So, look around you
and put players that are out of positon, into position.
For the most part always try to draw the puck back to your defensemen. This
will get the puck under control and allow the wingers to get loose and set
up for a pass instead of fighting for the puck right off of the faceoff.

Wingers-
When playing wing remember that if both your centerman and other winger are
forechecking deep, then you must not commit into the zone. If all three
players are forechecking deep and the opposing defenseman makes a nice play,
the winger is leaving the team vulnerable for an odd man rush.
Any winger should take pride in their own zone. As a winger you are
responsible for the defenseman on your side and that defenseman should never
be allowed to get a shot off. Often wingers suck down to help out their own
defensemen and leave their mark open for a threatening scoring chance.
